Antarctic explorer Douglas Mawson’s Glebe home in dire condition after coming to market

The former Glebe residence of explorer Douglas Mawson is on the market.

The one-time home of celebrated explorer Sir Douglas Mawson is a shade of its former historic self after coming to market for the first time since 1975.

Currently uninhabitable and in need of a full-scale renovation, the Glebe property in Sydney’s inner west has torn ceilings, cobwebs and damaged walls.

Built in 1882 as part of the landmark Palmerston Terrace row, 285 Glebe Point Road was home to Sir Mawson and his family in the late 1890s.
